1-Butoxy-2-propanol

1-Butoxy-2-propanol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as secondary alcohols. Secondary alcohols are compounds containing a secondary alcohol functional group, with the general structure HOC(R)(R') (R, R'=alkyl, aryl). 1-Butoxy-2-propanol is also an ether, comprised of a butane and a propane moieties joint by an oxygen atom. It has been identified in cannabis (PMID: 26657499) and chilli pepper (DOI: 10.1002/ffj.1913). It is soluble in water and it is the main component of paint and painting industry wastewater (PMID: 16403416).
