4-Hydroxy-2,3,6,7-tetramethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene

4-Hydroxy-2,3,6,7-tetramethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydrophenanthrenes.  These are phenanthrene derivatives where at least one ring carbon-carbon double bond has been reduced via hydrogenation. Phenanthrenes are polycyclic compounds containing a phenanthrene moiety, which is a tricyclic aromatic compound with three non-linearly fused benzenes. 4-Hydroxy-2,3,6,7-tetramethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene is also classified as a phenanthrenoid. Phenanthrenoids are chemical compounds formed with a phenanthrene backbone.  4-Hydroxy-2,3,6,7-tetramethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene is a hydrophobic, neutral molecule that is insoluble in water. 4-hydroxy-2,3,6,7-tetramethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthren is a derivative of 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene. 9,10-dihydrophenanthrens have been isolated from Cannabis sativa (https://doi.org/10.1007/s11101-008-9094-4).  Hydrophenanthrenes in Cannabis are structurally derived from stilbenoids, which have undergone an additional cyclization reaction to yield the phenanthrene skeleton.
