MOLECULE

4-Hydroxybutyric acid

4-Hydroxybutyric acid, also known as 4-hydroxybutanoate or gamma hydroxybutyrate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydroxy fatty acids. These are fatty acids in which the chain bears a hydroxyl group. 4-Hydroxybutyric acid is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. 4-Hydroxybutyric acid is a potentially toxic compound. 4-Hydroxybutyric acid is expected to be in Cannabis as all living plants are known to produce and metabolize it.
