9-Methyl-octacosane
9-Methyl-Octacosane belongs to the class of organic compounds known as branched alkanes. These are acyclic branched hydrocarbons having the general formula CnH2n+2. Thus, 9-methyl-Octacosane is considered to be a hydrocarbon lipid molecule. 3-Methyl- heptacosane is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble in water, and relatively neutral. 9-methyl-Octacosane is a methylated derivative of Octacosane. Octacosane has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as peachs, coconuts, apples, sweet cherries, and lindens. 9-methyl-Octacosane is one of the hydrocarbons that are known to occur in Cannabis sativa plants (PMID: 6991645).
