Magnesium

Magnesium, also known as magnesium ion or MG2+, belongs to the class of inorganic compounds known as homogeneous alkaline earth metal compounds. These are inorganic compounds containing only metal atoms, with the largest atom being a alkaline earth metal atom. Magnesium is possibly neutral. Magnesium exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans. In humans, magnesium is involved in mercaptopurine action pathway. Outside of the human body, Magnesium has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as cereals and cereal products, sunburst squash (pattypan squash), barley, gram beans, and lingonberries. This could make magnesium a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Magnesium, with regard to humans, has been found to be associated with several diseases such as multiple sclerosis, bartter syndrome, type 1, antenatal, seizures, sensorineural deafness, ataxia, mental retardation, and electrolyte imbalance (sesames), and bartter syndrome, type 2, antenatal; magnesium has also been linked to the inborn metabolic disorder primary hypomagnesemia. Magnesium is expected to be in Cannabis as all living plants are known to produce and metabolize it.
