tert-Butyl-benzene

Tert-Butylbenzene belongs to the class of organic compounds known as alkylbenzenes. These are organic compounds containing a benzene ring with an alkyl moiety. tert-Butylbenzene is an organic compound is classified as an aromatic hydrocarbon. Its structure consists of a benzene ring substituted with a tert-butyl group. It is a flammable colorless liquid which is nearly insoluble in water but miscible with organic solvents. In this compound tert-butyl connects through the central or internal carbon with benzene. tert-Butylbenzene can be produced by the treatment of benzene with isobutene (https://doi.org/10.1002/14356007.a13_227) or by the reaction of benzene with tert-butyl chloride in presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride ( https://doi.org/10.1021/ed018p550.1). It has also been identified as a volatile compound found in cannabis samples (PMID: 26657499).
